Amanda Walther

Amanda WaltherOne half of the Acoustic/Roots duo Dala, Amanda has been a professional singer-songwriter for over 10 years. Dala has released six albums and a live DVD (PBS special) and spent the last decade travelling throughout North America, performing in theatres, folk clubs, and festivals. Dala’s 2010 release “Girls from the North Country” was nominated for a Juno Award, and earned a Toronto Independent Music Award as well as a Canadian Folk Music Award for Vocal Group of the year.

Amanda’s music has been featured on television shows including Regenesis, Degrassi: the Next Generation, and Flashpoint. Most recently Dala’s song “Horses” was covered by British Singer-songwriter Kiki Dee on her latest album.

Amanda currently lives in her hometown of Toronto with her family and continues to write, and perform with Dala partner Sheila Carabine. As a CIRAA mentor Amanda offers particular insight on collaborative song writing, band financing, booking and basic accounting, travelling and touring in the United States, balancing personal life with road life, grant writing and the art of live performance.
