Marghie Evans

Marghie Evans is managing partner at Do Write Music, where she oversees publishing administration for various songwriters including Felix Cavaliere, Gillian Welch, Bobby Pinson, Ira Dean, Connie Smith and Marty Stuart.  In 2011, Billboard ranked Do Write Music the #10 country music publisher by airplay and the #18 country music publisher overall.

Do Write Music also provides sync licensing and label services, including music supervision for the Marty Stuart RFD series plus various independent productions including Ron White Comedy Special for the Troops and two ESPN films Boys of Fall and The Color Orange.  Marghie is a consultant to the Country Music Association, assisting them in managing their rights in the annual awards ceremony and other events, as well as to several independent record labels.

Originally from Canada, Marghie was a professional singer/songwriter touring Canada for several years and was signed to RCA Canada.  In 1986, she moved to the UK where she became and expert in rights management, holding the post Head of Rights and Clearances for PolyGram Filmed Entertainment and Universal Home Entertainment from 1988 to 2001.  Her credits include the DVDs Dire Straits Sultans of Swing and The Who: 30 Years Maximum R’n’B.

Marghie moved to Nashville in 2002 and became a freelance media consultant.  Projects she worked on include co-producing a DVD version of The Players (with Peter Frampton, Shawn Colvin, Travis Tritt and Vince Gill), acting as agent for Japanese film company Dreamworks, and licensing some CMT projects and Katty Mattea’s PBS Christmas special.
