Jay Semko is known nationally as singer and bassist with multiple JUNO Award nominees and Western Canadian Music Hall of Fame members the Northern Pikes, internationally as an award winning music composer for numerous film and TV productions, including Canada’s most successful internationally syndicated series, “Due South”, and as one of Canada’s premiere singer/songwriters, with 10 solo albums released. He has co-written and recorded with many of the best songwriters and musicians in music, has instructed songwriting at the University of Saskatchewan and been a panelist, participant, and host at many national events affiliated with SOCAN, the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA), and many others.
He is a 2-time winner of the SCMA Award for Roots Album of the Year (2012 “Force of Horses” & 2015 “Flora Vista”) and a 2-time Gemini Award nominee and Canadian Screen Award nominee for his work as a music composer for television (“Due South” and “Dust Up”).
He has performed across North America, Japan, at SXSW, the International Folk Alliance Conference, NXNE and many other international events. His music is a unique roots/folk/country/gospel hybrid, with tales of love and redemption celebrating life one day at a time – Jay’s songs, stories, and live concerts are legendary.
