Time to roll up your sleeves and get busy writing. To motivate you with a songwriting goal, our theme this time around is SPACE.

Maybe we’re talking about the void outside of Earth’s atmosphere, or maybe we’re talking about the distance between you and me. If you can think of another example of SPACE, run with it. Empty space, crowded space, a space for my stuff. Take a moment to think on it, and have fun!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to “answer the call”. You have until October 19th to write and record a demo of a new song around the idea “SPACE”, and send it to songcall@songstudio.ca (MP3 audio file, and PDF of your lyrics).

Again, this is important and people seem to miss it in all the excitement:
Send MP3 audio of your demo, and a PDF of your lyrics.
Please don’t send a link to your SoundCloud, or lyrics in a Microsoft Word document, etc.

Stuck? Call a songwriter friend and write it together.

Got two new songs for the call? Send ’em both.

Got an older song? Leave it at home. Write something fresh!

Lunch & Listen

On Saturday, October 19th, we will host a FREE Zoom listening party from 10:00am-12:00pm, Eastern Time. Bring your lunch and enjoy the songs written to “answer the call”. The Zoom link will be emailed to the SongStudio mailing list, so be sure you’re on our mailing list if you’d like to attend.

This is NOT a critique session. The point of Song Call is push you to write songs and inspire you to stay on the recommended theme. Have fun and write on!
